1. Who is responsible for your data
Thank the Teacher is a service operated by Gift Round Limited, registered in Scotland under company number SC515352, registered office 49 Castleview Drive, Bridge of Allan, Stirling, Scotland, FK9 4BD. We are the data controller for personal data processed through this service and are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office under registration number ZA503237.
2. This website and the GiftRound app
This website gives information about Thank the Teacher. Collections are created, joined and managed in the GiftRound app, where organiser, contributor and payment details are collected. GiftRound’s own privacy information also applies there.
3. What we collect
- Organisers: name, email address, the teacher or group name, and details of the collection you create.
- Contributors: name (or the name you choose to display), email address, contribution amount and any message you write.
- Payment data: handled by Ryft Pay Ltd, trading as Ryft. We receive confirmation of payment but never your full card details.
- Technical data: device, usage and error information collected through our hosting platform and providers to run, measure and secure the site.
4. Why we use it
- To create and run teacher collections and process contributions.
- To pass messages from contributors to the organiser and recipient.
- To send service emails such as confirmations and collection updates.
- To prevent fraud and misuse and to meet our legal obligations.
We rely on performance of a contract, our legitimate interests in running the service safely, and legal obligation as our lawful bases. Where we send optional marketing, we rely on consent and you can withdraw it at any time.
5. Who we share it with
We share data with the service providers who help us run Thank the Teacher, including our payment provider, email provider and hosting provider. We do not sell personal data. The organiser of a collection can see contributor names, amounts and messages for their own collection.
6. How long we keep it
We keep collection and contribution records for as long as needed to run the service and to meet accounting and legal requirements, typically six years, after which they are deleted or anonymised.
7. Your rights
You have the right to access your data, correct it, ask us to delete it, object to or restrict processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, email support@giftround.co.uk.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
8. Cookies
This website uses technical cookies and hosting platform measurement. Details are in our cookie policy.
